The Universes Have Always Been There

Whenever anyone used to put question before Buddha-the-Gautama: "When was universe created?" His standard answer was: "It has always been there."

If you consider matter, which is illusory potency of supreme personality of Godhead Shri Krishna, you realize that it's true.

There have been three( and only three entities) quintessential entities always(because there has never been a 'beginning.')

These entities are: Krishna(God/Brahm), Jeevas(Souls) and Maya(matter/universes/illusory-potency).

Krishna is superconscious, Jeevas have tiny consciousness in comparison whereas Maya is inert.

Billions upon billions of universes come into existence when Mahavishnu(an expansion of supreme personality of Godhead Krishna) exhales. These universes come out from pores of his body and when he inhales they merge back into him.

But the illusory potency Maya which was invested in the universes stays same.

Jeevas which come to play and dance in universes do so until those universes merge back into Mahavisnu and then they all go for sleep unless they have attained love for Krishna, in which case only they reach Goloka(or Vaikuntha if devotee is of Vishnu), otherwise they have to rest inside Mahavishnu till next cycle of creation of universes. Then again molecular Mayic play and liberation, or devotion or sleeping again inside Mahavishnu.

But the universes which subside into Mahavishnu don't die, neither they were created in an actual sense.

They have always existed inside him and will always exist inside him.

Such is Krishna's divine play with one fourth of his potencies.

Three fourth of his potencies are in Paravyoma--spiritual sky--which are not known to anyone.

Even Big-Bang model has been replaced by Big-Boom model which suggests the cosmic cycles of expansion and contraction of universes which hint towards eternal nature of created universes.

The Moksha(Liberation) You Know About is Cheapest!

From Chaitanya-Charitamrita, the great book by Gopidasa Kaviraja:
CC Adi 3.18: "These liberations are sars?t?i [achieving opulences equal to those of the Lord], sarupya [having a form the same as the Lord's], samipya [living as a personal associate of the Lord] and salokya [living on a Vaikun?t?ha planet]. Devotees never accept sayujya, however, since that is oneness with Brahman.

It's worthy of being noticed that Buddha, Gorakshnatha, Raman Maharshi, Shankaracharya, Jiddu Krishnamurthy, Nisargdatta, Osho, Eckhart Tolle and many other enlightened beings in the age of Kali have emphasized upon the fourth type of liberation, which is--Sayujya mukti, becoming one with Bramhan. It's because of their popularity and lack of faith in people that they have started to assume that Moksha and Nirvana means getting dissolved in Bramhan.

As I have already pointed in another post about Mayavadis(Shankaracharya's followers) ---they did not even popularize Sayujaya--Moksha properly--because the obfuscated very meaning of Bramhan(God) with that of Soul(Jeeva). Buddha on the other hand, outrightedly rejected any self or God whatsoever.

Both Shankaracharya and Buddha were last in the lines of great enlightened masters, but the masters following them confused themselves about enlightenment and ended up popularizing lop-sided liberation as the ultimate goal. It is only a handful of devotees in the age of Kali who have thoroughly worked to popularize devotion and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is supreme amongst them!

Chanting Krishna Increases Your Awareness and Joy

I have seen innumerable debates on Free-Will in various forums online. The free-will is available only when you're beyond illusory potency 'Maya'. Maya, Soul and Krishna are all eternal but until Soul is devoted to Krishna, he is consistently troubled by the Maya(nature). Nature forces all Jeevas to do Karmas consistently by three modes, i. e. Sattvic(Goodness/pure-energy), Rajsik(passionate) and Tamasik(inert/dark/evil) modes.

Only when a Jeeva becomes a true devotee, that is, when he attains pure, unalloyed, unadulterated bliss of God and develops an unconditional love for Shri Krishna, does he become free from Maya and attains Free-Will. The power to exercise choice is because of 'Chit' quality which is infinite in God but Jeevas have a very tiny amount of consciosuness and hence such minute amount of power to choose as well.

In a devotee, the consciousness, the Chit-Shakti and the Free-will increases in proportion to increase in his Bhakti towards Krishna.

Chanting God's holy names without break increases our consciousness. It leads us towards the Sathya-Samkalpa--i.e. more of what we think comes to fruition and most of it is because of our holy attachment to the God is for goodness, love and bliss and not for personal gains.

Jeevas(souls) have very little size and atomic consciousness. Krishna has infinite consciousness, infinite size, infinite power and infinite qualities. By chanting holy names of Krishna you allow your flame of consciousness to burn more and more brightly. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, an incarnataion of Krishna clearly told in his most brief verses that holy names of Krishna have transcendental energies in them which could be available to anyone who chants them often enough.

Brainwashed With Media

Media reflects the social conditions and adds its spices which are negative because it's 'sensation' which sales. Society has many things going on simultaneously inside and some of them are tranquilizers but they are few. What is outside? Nobody knows--focus on negativity and you reinforce it and get more of it--do you need paranoia? Focus on it--do you need goodness? Optimism? Happiness? Focus on source of all goodness---God. Instant gratification is currency of the day and Tamoguna inside us feeds itself on shock, terror and pessimism, otherwise our petty existence feels too trivial and too bored.

I have lately recommended so many people to stop reading newspapers and watching news on television. News, movies(well most of them) and gossips(no matter how innocuous they seem), contain criticism, negativity and terror and they continue to ruin our already unhappy existences in absence of meditation, spirituality and optimism.

Consumerism has given rise to horrendous habits of eating chunks of unnecessary information which damages our brain 24*7. What should I do? You may ask. Your ego would be very badly hurt if I say that surrender to God and stop calculating; whereas if you say otherwise I would be happy---if you don't want to, it is your choice to stay away from happiness--my petty ego will not get hurt by your choice for sure . You would say "You're brainwashed and you want others to become like you." No, that's not what I am recommending. Most of the news and media for most of the people is useless and unnecessary and if they start deriving pleasure from other creative activities it would lead to  happier lives. If getting brainwashed doesn't ultimately lead to unhappiness it is worth getting rid of all garbage you have inside your head on which your daily gossip, media and movies have been feeding you throughout your life.

Karma, Gyana and Bhakti Yoga

Absolute bliss, eternal-joy is the ultimate goal of the Jeev(Soul) and it can be attained only when Jeev can get rid of illusory potency Maya. There are three paths possible for reaching the destinations: Karma Yoga, Gyan-Yoga and Bhakti-Yoga. There are five classical checks to ascertain if a path is true path or not, which are as follows:

Anvay: It should let you reach the goal of absolute bliss(Parmananda.)
Is the path for everyone?
Is there any dependency(on other paths)?
Will it give an eternal goal or it gives a temporary attainment?

Karma-Kanda--the way of Karma fails in its very first check(Anvay) itself , i. e. it could give you Swargaloka(heavenly abode) at max, that too if you take utmost care all your life, otherwise this path causes your fall into lower realms.

Jnana-Yoga also fails in the very first check because it can confer knowledge of 'Self'(Atmajnana) at most. It cannot even confer Moksha, leave alone absolute bliss. Moreover it fails in the third check as well--it's not for everyone. Adi-guru Shankaracharya has suggested that a person possessing four virtues should approach the way of Jnana--the first virtue is control on mind--which is impossible for almost everyone.

It has been said for the Jnana-Yoga.

"Gyan ka panth kripaan ki dhara..."

[ The path of knowledge is like sword's edge...]

Now we discuss about Bhakti-Yoga. Padma Purana says that everyone has the right to walk the path of Bhakti. It's not just a moral and pious man but also all of the immoral people who have right to do Bhakti. Valmiki was a dacoit but he attained Moksha by chanting 'Mara, Mara..' because he was unable to even say word 'Ram.'

Jnani as well as ignorant has right to do Bhakti. All they have to do is to create an attachment for God. This might be even with a feeling of enmity for God. Those who are libertaed from Maya and those who are under its sway have equal right to chant God's holy names. Those who are Mumukshu( want nothing else but 'Moksha'(liberation)) and those who are entangled in worldly pleasure have equal right of listening Ram's and Krishna's stories.

Every material can be used to worship Krishna, unlike other deities who need specific materials in specific quantities.

Adi Guru Shankaracharya was a devotee at heart

Adiguru Shankaracharya is considered to be most prominent Philosopher of India. See this quotation from Wikipedia:

Because of his unification of two seemingly disparate philosophical doctrines, Atman and Brahman, Westerners who know about him perceive him as the "St. Thomas Aquinas of Indian thought" and "the most brilliant personality in the history of Indian thought."

 Image Link
Kripaluji states in his lecture 23 of series Bramh, Jeev and Maya that Shankara became a devotee of Krishna and he motivated his mother as well as other disciples for the same. Kripaluji has beautifully pointed towards contradictions in the principles of Shankaracharya by taking Vedic-hymns as references. In his opinion, Shankara as the avatara of lord Shiva came to re-establish Vedic Dharma because Buddhism(Buddhavtara was against the sacrifice, rituals and meat-eating in Bramhins; which established Ahimsa as highest Truth and rejected Vedas altogether) was becoming prevalent in that time. Kripaluji has quoted Shloka 107 of 70th chapter of Padma Purana, in which lord Vishnu(Krishna) orders lord Shiva to incarnate in Kaliyuga to make people deluded by 'imaginary principles,' in order to sustan creation which would otherwise dwindle because of the devoted Bhaktas who have Vairagya.

Shankaracharya did travel to create many idols across the India which seems puzzling for a Jnana-Yogi but not for a devotee!

Difference between material and divine father(s):

Your material father is your Mayik father--he is father of your material body and you had millions upon millions of fathers in as many incarnations. Your divine father is God who has always been 'one and only father.' He is your REAL father because reality is 'which doesn't change.'

Material fathers are always senior to you in this Mayik world, because they appear prior to you, but God isn't senior to you. Vedas state clearly that Jeev(Soul/You) and God(Krishna/Bramh/Parmatma) have always been there since very beginning. None of them were ever born and they're not going to die either. Prime difference between them is that--God is all powerful and all knowing and Jeev is almost powerless and knows almost nothing.

Hora: An Excellent Technique For Planning Schedules

Hora stands for 'hour.' It's one of the easiest and most easy to implement techniques of Astrology. It's used to find out auspicious time of day, in order to take decisions. It is a very easy technique and it takes hardly ten minutes to master. Its yields however might be long lasting.

Every hour of every day of week is ruled by a planet. What it means is: Jyotisha stresses that every hour of the day has a distinct type of energy which affects all conscious beings. You might be familiar with Nakshatras-lunar mansions, which are constellations through which Moon transits. They are 27 in total and Moon takes 27 days to travel through all of them. In order to understand practical usage of Nakshatra approach---lets take an example: Jyotishi suggest that you should not lend or borrow money when Moon is in Mula Nakshatra. It's considered that Mula has negative binding energy which doesn't let debts get dissolved, which is not good for anyone giving loans or borrowing it.

Swati Nakshatra on the other hand is considered auspicious for trading activities.

The Hora approach is even more minute considering every hour of day and common for everyone in the sense that it doesn't take into consideration Moon sign or Major/Minor periods. The learned people however will take into the account the sign through which Moon transits along with its relation to their natal Moon. When this is combined with Hora, Minor, Major and Sub periods--it becomes a classical powerful method to decide best time for all activities.

Hora technique is especially good for deciding auspicious times for leaving your home for journey, for buying things, trade and business deals. It's especially good for those subjects who are troubled by recurring accidents, traffic and quarrels.

This easy to implement approach is as follows:

1. Find out the local time of Sunrise and Sunset etc for your locality. For example: Sun rise today in Bangalore was at 6:05 AM in morning in Bangalore.

2. Pay attention to this cyclic order and note it down; if possible, memorize it: {{{Sun--->Venus--->Mercury--->Moon--->Saturn--->Jupiter---->Mars---->Sun}}}

3. Every day is owned by a planet--for example: Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, Saturn rules Saturday etc.

4. The first hour, when Sun rises is ruled by the day lord: For example: Today is Wednesday--that is why Mercury rules the time 6:05 AM to 7:05 AM.

Moon rules 7:05 AM to 8:05 AM.

Saturn rules 8:05 AM to 9:05 AM.

Jupiter rules 9:05 AM to 10:05 AM.

And so and so on.

Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury are natural benefics, though Mercury gives slightly mixed influences.

Journeys, inaugurations undertakings and other important activities should be started in the Hora of natural benefics.

There are activities which are well done in the Hora of Mars, Saturn and Sun--for example--administrative and official activities in the Hora of Sun and physical exertion and adventures in Mars' Hora.

Mercury Hora is most conducive for reading scriptures, commercial activities, Astrology, learning, reading as well as writing.

Moon Hora is important for respecting elders, meditation and chanting etc.

Jupiter Hora is most auspicious Hora.

Saturn is good for labour, for getting things done and not for anything else. It's a separative Hora.

If you continue to calculate Horas for Wednesday, for all 24 hours, you would come to realize that the first hour of the next day, i. e. Sunrise hour for Thursday will be ruled by the planet Jupiter.

I advise intuitive readers to think about nature of planets. Thus contemplating on nature of energies available in various hours of day, learned readers would be able to decide most auspicious Horas for desired activities.

For example: Expressing love and romancing are soft and sensitive activities best done in the Horas of Venus and Moon because Venus signifies beauty and love and Moon signifies sensitivity and feelings.

Maya: Revisited

Maya is illusion of reality. The definition of Maya is given by God: "Maya is present where I am not and Maya cannot be without me."

This definition is explained by Jagadguru Kripaluji by a simple example: The image of Sun in the water is illusion of Sun seen by a subject. Sun cannot be inside the water or the surface reflecting its rays; otherwise the image would not form. Maya cannot be present where God is. Maya is darkness and God is bright light.

Adi-Guru Shankaracharya propounded the Philosophy of Bramha(impersonal-self) becoming 'Self,' because of Maya. Kripaluji asks " If Bramha is affected by Maya and becomes 'Jeeva'(Self), how is it possible to really attain enlightenment? How would a soul ever be free of Maya? Even if a soul gets enlightened(becomes illuminated Bramha) the Maya can again contaminate it to become Soul.

The Vaishnava way suggests that Maya is a power of God. Jeeva(Soul) is another power of God and Maya affects a soul only until God is not realized by the Soul. It's a law that Maya cannot be present where God is present. That's why the path of Bhakti gives permamnent bliss and relief from suffering once a Bhakta attains God-realization; there is no chance of getting affected by the illusion.

Maya is inert power, whereas Jeev is conscious power of God. Maya is what attaches Jeev to the world.

Soul is of atomic size and it's proven by Veda Vyasa. Souls are of two types: One is 'Swamsha' of God and others are 'Vibhinnansha.' We are Vibhinnansha and souls like Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh and all incarnations of Shri Krishna are Swamshas--they have much power and we have a very little power.

The Ultimate Goal

The goal of every soul is to get joy. Who says that? Religious scriptures do. I believe them because my personal experience, intuition and observations into the lives of others don't say otherwise. You may call it by any other name; you may call it bliss, peace, happiness, ananda or harmony. It doesn't really matter what you call it--every conscious being wants infinite happiness without even a split second of unhappiness or pain.

If it seems that any sentient being is striving to gain pain instead of pleasure, it must be because some dysfunction has set-in. It must be because the temporary attempt at producing suffering and pain for oneself or for others is because of either misunderstanding or because it would eventually turn into happiness.

There are no other movements as far as sentient beings are concerned. There will always be two types: Either to avoid the pain which is already there or to produce greater pleasure. All religions of world, in form or another admit to this fact and their teachings are in accordance with it. It's their quintessence; anything in religions which increases disharmony, pain or Karma of humanity at large, is, because of the man made dysfunctions and not because of the original 'messages' of religions which 'actually' descended into them from divinity when they were created.

If people of world understand this simple fact without breaking their heads in myriads of doctrines, a great deal of problems could be solved without any extra effort. Merely understanding our goal clearly will lead to clarity in thoughts and actions. Take for example--our urges to get fame, money, respect, attention and so on; they all seem like different desires, but they're one and only one desire in core: "The desire to be happy, to be free from pain and suffering." The clarity of goal leads to clarity of thought process and that in turn leads to the proper way of living to be happy.

The supreme personality of Godhead Shri Krishna is ultimate happiness and bliss beyond any description or imagination and he is the sea in which all rivers of happiness meet. Different religions and philosophies call him by different names but he is the pleasure(happiness) principle driving all souls day and night and he is the ultimate destiny of every soul.

Bramh, Parmatma and Bhagvan

In his series of lectures on topic 'Bramh, Jeeva, Maya,' Jagadguru Shri Kripaluji Maharaj clarifies nature of Bramh in part 2 and distinguishes between commonly misunderstood 'Bramh, Parmatama(God) and Bhagvan.'

Bramh is uncaused, eternal cause of everything, platform on which everything resides and dissolves into(in the end.) Bramh has  two supreme qualities: creating and protecting everything created.

Parmatama has more qualities---he has forms and he is the greatest personality from which infinite universes come into existence.

Bhagvan has greatest number of qualities. It's impossible to estimate his qualities or his true form. He is Parmatma, Bramh and supreme personality of Godhead Shri Krishna. He incarnates in human form and enjoys his divine Lila and does his own Bhakti.

Most of the branches of Philosophy(Indian system) emphasize on getting rid of suffering but Vedanta suggests that aim is to get Rasa(Ananda/Bliss) and Bhakti is established as supreme way.

The way to know Bramh is Bramha-jnana.
The way to know Parmatma is Yoga.
The way to become one with Bhagvan is to get his mercy and that is possible if you surrender to him and ask for his favor with humble prayer, chanting and sankeertan.

He clarifies that Bramh resides inside Bhagvan Shri Krishna.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna: Mahamantra: Part2

Though it was Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who popularized this mantra, it existed thousands of years before his appearance on earth. In fact, names 'Hari', 'Ram' and 'Krishna' have existed since time of Vedas(which is not  known clearly in my opinion.)

In Kalisantaranopnishad(which is also called 'Harinamopnishad) this mantra is suggested by Bramha as a most powerful technique to ward-off evil effects of Kaliyuga. Sage Narada, who is son of Bramha asked him the technique to avoid evil effects of Kaliyuga and Bramha replied him with happiness. He recommended this mantra as a shortest way to attain Moksha.
